I took a 7 week coast to coast road trip after being laid off from Boeing. I didn’t have a camper but realized that being able to pull off the road at a rest or truck stop was the way to go to make the trip affordable. With a few sheets of 1/2” plywood and misc. hardware this is what I came up with. The effort was well worth the time and materials.

So…behold the cake I was trying to bake since yesterday. PArdon the blurry pictures and horrible details.
I can’t remember how many times I had to discard layers and layers of cakes since they were literally destroyed by my inexperienced hands. And if you realized it in these blurry pictures, the Ludwig fondant broke into two…good thing Ivan is there to support him.
The hardest part of making this is the fondant figurines. It’s barely the size of my hand, so to put the pieces together ain’t easy. But it was fun…it’s like playing with Play-Dough.
My favourite had to be those layers. I never expected it to be this okay, since I failed many times to make it as it is now…and my mixer broke down half way in making the frosting, so I had to substitute it with some chocolate creme that kinda melts at room temperature…xDDD
Though I have to say, overall, it’s great. Great experience, nice cake…I’m satisfied. ;;u;;
Ah, well. Happy early Birthday to me!!
…
Also, I’ll have to apologize if this offended anyone in any way…particularly with Ludwig in the Waffen SS uniform and Ivan in his Red Army one, when I’m displaying the German and Russian flags. If I could I’d make them without those uniforms, but since the figurines are small, people might not recognize them…
The position and size of the Russian flag layers as regard to the German flag layers might be offensive too…or suggestive, it depends… :’D
psst send me some cake ahh it looks deliciouss
